written by a person who, in principle, does not like this kind of music... but this album is a bomb, and the American release is a standard.

God damn what a fucking pressing this is. One of my favourite sounding albums I own. Original US is great. I have original Rid Of Me (UK) and while it’s good there is so much more studio work on this album.

Still to this day, "To Bring You My Love" sounds fresh, and that's mainly because of two reasons: One is PJ Harvey's wild vocals, that vary from deep growls to high-pitched hollers, sometimes in seconds ("The Dancer"), and secondly, because of John Parish and Polly Jean's production, that mixes elements of Blues, Hard Rock and Electronica to amazing results. Highlights for me are definitely the nasty slow-burners "To Bring You My Love" and "Teclo", the hard-hitting "Meet Ze Monsta" and "Long Snake Moan", and the wonderful closer "The Dancer", that oozes theatricality and creativity. There is only one song in the album that doesn't convince me ("I Think I'm a Mother), but the rest is near damn perfect.
