Mix is terrible to bloody awful!!! But that’s what you get with Richard Chycki as the mix engineer. With a band like Rush the engineers should be the best at their craft. Andy Van Dette is a very good mastering engineer, no gripes with him.
This needs a remix…… -
my copy did not come with a card! can someone confirm this came with one??? this isn't the first recent pressing of a record that claimed a card in the notes that my copy didn't have.

Does the album tell you what live performance was recorded or is it pieced from multiple performances? It would be a cool purchase if it was from the Red Rocks show i was at.

My thoughts mirror other commenters. This thing sounds horrible. Poor stereo separation, mushy/muddy, and Geddy's voice is buried in the mix. Whoever gave this pressing the green light needs to be punished by being forced to listen to this non-stop for 24 hours.

Wow. This record sounds awful. Definitely wouldn't have spent money on it if I knew how bad it sounded. What a drag.
-
Really poor sound on the lp with a horrible upper bass/lower midrange distortion. This not only makes Rush's legendary rhythm section sound turgid and grating, but even worse gives Lee a gargling vocal sound. Honestly, this is as bad as poor bootleg live recordings and not even close to the good live sound on lps like A Show of Hands or Exit Stage Left. You can hear that the bass is pushing the recording into distortion. How did the mastering engineer think that this was acceptable? A rip off.

Edited 9 years agoI was at the 2010 concert and it was phenomenal. Great setlist and amazing musicianship from all the band with little special moments that only happen live. This was an early addition to my collection before I got the studio version of Moving Pictures.
It is interesting to hear The Camera Eye live for the first time (I believe) and again all the perform excellently. Only, two things I had a problem with. There were these little cutscenes between songs and the sound effects would sort of cut into the song as it started playing, which was a bit distracting. And as much as I love Geddy Lee, his voice is lagging a bit. It's not a turn off for me personally because as a whole, this concert was amazing, but having just the moving pictures section by itself is a little lacking.
I'd say, this is an item for die hard Rush collectors. But if I had a choice, I would go with the original Moving Pictures, or just get the whole Time Machine Tour on CD.
