Notes

40th Anniversary edition.
The vinyl has been remastered from the original quarter inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios and pressed onto 200 Gram virgin vinyl. The sleeve is an exact replica of the first edition of the album on Moon Records. Inside the box holds an original shop poster, 3 individual photos of each band member and an intricate band family tree. All alongside a card.

Similar release is the US 180 gram reissue which does not include the sheet with a code.

Got the new 2023 repress, nothing in the matrix to suggest Sean Magee or even the same runouts as the 2014 pressing. Did they use the same source?

Beware . New re-pressing is not 200 grm. New repressing are between 170 to 180grm

This is back in print, just saw it for $37.98 at Acoustic Sounds. Sorry resellers!

Just spent €90 on this one (I think it is this one, as the listing of this boxset is a mess - missing pictures of backside of the box itself and its content). I've got the Canadian one, or the US. The records' sleeve back side says Made in Canada, but the box backside says Made in the US.

My matrix are: Side1: MN-100 A1 and Side2: MN-100 B1 with some scribbling I can't read, probably the "I...I" which is listed on this entry. The vinyl itself is ridiculously thick. This one is probably more than 200g.

I find the original pressing sounding much better, open and lush sounding. This sounded like there was a carpet thrown in front of the speakers. Smiley-EQ low frequencies. In the original you can hear Geddy's pick hitting the strings, and the strings shiver right in front of you. Plus the vocals more present in the original. THAT is a huge difference. Wasted money. 👎

Equipment: Quested VS2108 and V2108 (surround system), Quested SB10 Subwoofer. Rega RP40, Ania Pro MC stylus, Aria MK3 RIAA, Mackie MS1202VLZPro mixer which is modified by myself.

Really nice sounding, but, as with Caress of Steel, it sounds unusually more quiet then as compared to other titles in this series. Also, while the box and "extras" are fun I'm not sure that they are worth the extra cost that they bring. I kind of wish they had released this the same as the other Rush titles (perhaps that is still forthcoming?). In any event this still sounds great and is definitely worthwhile!

I bought a new copy in Feb 2018 and discovered that the included card had an expiration date of 2015, so you may not want to count on the card.

The record on its own will be very difficult to distinguish from the original Moon release. On my original release the cover has a small MN-100 near the bottom right on the front cover, which this one doesn't, and the matrix number is slightly larger on the original. Of course, the original didn't use quite as heavy vinyl either.
