Edited one year agoThe tracks here from the Fields and Gehanna EPs are quite poor-sounding needledrops. You can hear distortion and other artifacts throughout. Some songs sound worse than others, but it all sounds like it was sourced from worn vinyl using subpar gear, with little attempt to clean it up. Nothing on that first disc sounds like it was sourced from tape. I get that the master tapes for these tracks are probably long gone, but it is possible to do needledrops that sound much better than this. (Besides, some of the Gehanna tracks have been issued on CD from tape (or at least a much better source) on the Dawnrazor CD, so why not use those instead?) I'm disappointed in the poor sound quality of the first disc and I regret buying this.

Are the tracks from Side One the original versions or the Jungle edits? Does Trees Come Down fade out or end cold?
Are the tracks on Side Two sourced from original tape or merely a reproduction of the Returning To Gehenna EP (with the dropout in LAURA II)? -
I’m listening now and it sounds really nice. Not sure of the source they used…. But it sounds really good.
