David Sylvian – Secrets Of The Beehive

The recording is very good as one would expect. Very clear production and natural dynamics.

The particular new-to-me LP I have is very quiet in general, but has a bit of surface noise. Unsure whether this copy had a dusty life or was pressed this way.

Sounds perfectly fine to me, crisp and clear. Not sure where these comments about tape hiss are coming from, sounds identical to the U.S. CD that someone said sounds excellent.

Was there ever a more beautiful and precocious album than this? (only Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden comes to mind as well as Beth Gibbons and Rustin' Man's Out of Season). And you have to own two copies of this album; firstly this one with a reworked Forbidden Colours as the final song (the original CD bonus track in 1987) and secondly a copy that ends with Promise (The Cult of Eurydice), which was the CD bonus track in Japan and for all issues starting in 2003 and onwards. You could even argue you should own a third copy, one that has no bonus track at all... (if such a thing existed).

All those years afterwards, the changed design of the name logo still looks like a clothing label to me.

If one needs a remaster then one should approach the original recording guru, and that is exactly what has been done. Solid. Personally, I just cannot get used to this album sans Forbidden Colours, a singular work of inspired genius. This is the best sounding edition I have.

This digital remaster sounds awesome. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. This can be played very loud as there's no ear daggers or boomy bass to contend with. The soundstage is very wide, with the vocals and instruments located with laser precision

It's the dirtiest record I've ever received. It looks like it was packed by Bedouins in the desert, bought from Amazon in 2023.

This release was pressed in the Czech Republic. That means it is a ''hit & miss'' in of pressing quality.

Sound quality is quite good. A few crackles here and there, but that's more to age and previous storage with my personal copy than an issue with the pressing itself. A must have record in my book.

This edition is superbly mastered, and is more open and detailed than the Weatherbox edition and the '91 Canadian Cinram.
