I've had 3 copies of this and all of them contain numerous pops and clicks throughout. In all honestly, whilst the covers for the Tone Poets are much nicer, I don't find the vinyl itself to be any better than that of the Classic series pressed at Optimal. In fact, whilst I have numerous Classics that are perfect, I think just about all of my Tone Poet titles have more noise than I'd like even after a couple of vacuum cleans. So much for RTI being one of the '' plants in America...

Great album marred by noisy surfaces, particularly on Side 2. Despite my disappointment, I must comment on the crisp and clear photos, not just the striking cover photo, but also the ones inside the gatefold. In particular, very nice portrait of Freddie Hubbard...so young! This artwork puts other reissues to shame, especially those done by VMP.

I will spin this fairly frequently, but I will probably end up replacing it at some future date when someone else does a reissue.

I have the Tone Poet edition of this one and this semi official, digital sourced, pressed at fucking Rainbo piece of garbage. Any comparisons with the Tone Poet is laughable and it demands an ear doctor appointment asap.

Displays the moody, voodoo-energy which he and Miles Davis would explore more robustly in years to come. Mr. Chambers's electric accompaniment sustains and organizes the varying textures throughout. Pressing is flawless.

I have no problem with this pressing. Mine is clean, silent and flat. The music is very dynamic and detailed. This is one of Wayne Shorter's more interesting albums and it's definitely for listing and not to be played in the background. It leans more towards avant-garde and free jazz then post-bop and It really demands your attention. All the players are really dialed in. Joe Chambers and Herbie Hancock especially shine here!

Great album but my copy has lots of crackle during silent parts even after ultrasonic cleaning

I don’t have any other copies to compare to but it stands up against a lot of my time poets or classic series releases.

One of the better sounding Tone Poets. Really nice stuff
