WHOOOAAA , FANTASTIC PRESS!!!
I didnt expect much as the Jacko reissues usually get slated for being inferior to their OGs and i will also state ive only had this on CD and cassette (oof!) til now. I find this is absolutely balanced to perfection with a richness i hear in the production my CD doesnt replicate but not at the expense of detail or soundstage. Both discs are flat, on centre and quiet. Ive always felt this album was underrated. Its a new jack swing record for almost half the length and its the best new jack swing album ever in the process. The rest is kind of random but mostly brilliant imo but i realise it grated on some fans.
Also compared to the red marbled edition this one has a cleaner sound, the marbled vinyl seems to add a layer of light hash distortion like many coloured presses can. Its essentially the same quality mastering though. Another difference is that although both editions have a low rent single sleeve, this older press has a glossy look and better contrast/colour for the lovely album artwork.
Yeah.... i totally recommend this press!!! -
Both records play excellently with fantastic dynamics, a wide soundstage, and amazing bass. Not having of any sibilance or compression issues at all, just another quality Bernie Grundman mastered pressing that will give whatever speakers you’re listening to this through a fantastic workout. A gatefold cover would have been nice, but both records now in poly-lined sleeves, fit just fine with existing original cardboard inner sleeves inside cover. Turn it up and enjoy.

Just picked this up from Amazon and I am honestly VERY surprised with how great this press sounds. Compared it to the OG CD & Cassette (lol), this is my preferred version. Thick wax, clean, no surface noise, outstanding dynamics and great packaging for such a simple sleeve. The artwork is also not upscaled from a small image, something that I think MOV releases always suffer from. I would like to compare it to that press one day. Wish it was gate fold but, that is by no means a deal breaker. Now I just need a press of HIStory to round out the core Michael.

It might be this issue is printed in Singapore really instead of being Made in E.U. truly. According to some solid sources online, that's what triple 8 the barcode starts from mean. To my expirience, this record sounds not bad. It's not dull or flat. But, it do sounds a CD like with digitally compressed sounds. It lacks the true depth, warmth and wide range of a true analog vinyl record. I don't think this one can be really compared to the original 1991 vinyl issue Made in the USA thought I've never listened so far to that particular vinyl record. Normally, I'm trying to avoid records printed in E.U. with the barcode starting from 888. I've had few of them with the reissues of the fine albums like Pink Floyd once. All of them sounded bold and loud yet flat and dull giving a very unsatisfactory listening experience. Someone mentioned a CD here... Well, in the true times of well mastered and engineered vinyl records, that would not be a compliment in any sense. If the vinyl record sounds same as the same CD album, it means the vinyl record sounds pretty bad. In any sense it should not sound the same. The vinyl record should sound more lively giving the warmth and fine experience of clear and clean analog record closer to concert like studio presence(if it's recorded in studio). It's a real downfall if vinyl sounds just like a regular CD. It should sound "better" than any High Definition CD almost. It should not sound digitally in any sense.
This 2015 made in E.U. issue with the barcode starting with 888 doesn't sound bad(don't read my comment like that). But, I have a strong doubt it can be really compared to the original one made and printed in the USA back to 1991. PS If those barcode referencing solid online sources correct, how do they manage to actually print records in Singapore yet stating it to be Made in E.U. ? -
The pictures look exactly like my copy. But my runout has 13840 1A 888751209312 86302 1A MOVLP072. Maybe my version isn’t in the database?

Edited 3 years agoI love this 2 album reissue of MJs mega hit album ‘Dangerous’. Album cover sleeve was decent. 180 gram (not 150 gm as d!) black vinyl was perfect….no warps or scratches. The only issue I have is that paper inner sleeves with tiny lyrics were included. It would’ve been a NICE bonus to reissue a special gatefold edition of ‘Dangerous’ for its 30th Anniversary with protective sleeves. I immediately transferred my vinyl set to poly lined sleeves for protection against scratches and a reduction in static that paper causes. 5 Stars

Love this album. The artwork, the sound, and just about everything about it. I've had zero issues with mine. Sounds fantastic.

Nearly none background hissing, super clean and dynamic. I didn't even hear the needle was dropped until the music started.

I am generally very happy with this release. The sound quality is pretty excellent overall. It is terrifically punchy, defined, and wide sounding. But, the issue that keeps me from being able to, in good conscience, give this one a 5 star rating is the harsh sibilance that I experienced on Heal the World, Who Is It, and Dangerous. Granted Michael hits the S’s very hard in those songs, but it should have been compensated for in the mastering and there is no excuse. I can understand Heal the World and Dangerous having distortion issues, because they are the last tracks on their sides, but Who Is It is the middle of 3 tracks with neither of the other two tracks on that side having any sibilance issues. It’s just strange and unfortunate, because I would say that this reissue would have been pretty well close to perfect without those issues. The vinyl pressing itself is very nice quality, clean and smooth. The printed inner sleeves are good quality and the ultra glossy jacket is beautiful with its extremely high quality print of the cover art. It’s not a gatefold, but as far as I know, neither is the original 91 release. All in all, it was still an enjoyable listen despite the handful of harsh S’s and I would still recommend it if found at a reasonable price. I don’t currently own an original 1991 pressing to compare this reissue against, but I will add an update if and when I do get an original copy.
