One of those albums that I know like the back of my hand, and that I’ve owned since 1975. This reissue is about the best it’s going to get imho. It’s always been a dense recording and I don’t ever see it being an audiophile experience. But who cares about that ? The songs are superb. Only Rogers track doesn’t work. It’s a shame Brian didn’t come up with a fourth song.
As others have noted, the sleeve is beautiful. No more slightly blurry band photograph. This one has depth and a sharpness the original sorely lacked.
So, yes. I’d recommend it. The sound is as good as it’s going to get. -
Edited 2 years agoI have the colored 2 LP box set version (same mastering though). The music is much clearer and less muddy and a lot stronger bass, which is great for this record, but ultimately is extremely compressed. It lacks that "punch" that my 1976 US copy has. My US copy has a much wider soundstage as well. I will say though that this is by far the best remaster in the series by far (followed by A Night At the Opera and Queen I) and isn't a bad choice if you can't find an original. The presentation is also FANTASTIC on this reissue. I've never seen the cover look better than this.
TLDR; The 1976 US Special pressing really cooks and prefer it over this despite it's drawbacks, but this is a pretty good reissue. MUCH better than the 2008 Hollywood pressing. -
This one really shines from the remastering. Previous LP pressings and even CD were dull and muddy. Essential Queen.

I am very happy with this Hollywood release. Good separation and pretty full sound. There’s something about the mix/mastering that makes this one stand out from the other 2015 Hollywood Queen LP remasters. Certainly my favorite of the four I picked up.

This sounds.very good to my ears ok it isnt like the.original which I even have too but this has more clearer soundstage more balance.in the vocals and instruments so I'd grab.a.copy before.it is too.late...

This RE is great! It's a bit 'sounded', but to enjoy the music, it's a very good solution. Absolutely recommended.
