Excellent sounding pressing. I bought this when it was released and haven't had it for many years (it got lost in the years), but I think this one sounds very good. A bit boomy in the bass, so be prepared to roll some bass off, but otherwise its a solid sounding pressing with all the studio trickery included.

Edited 11 months agoTalking of muddy sound, this is how I my old 1990's copy of the album. Sold it long time ago, been listening to Queen at age 13 day in and day out until I got overblown. Cannot bear the "Radio Gaga" phase of the band nowadays (maybe it will grow on me in the future), but their first four albums are all essential listening, period.
This particular release, remastered by the great Robert 'Bob' Ludwig and cut at halfspeed by Miles Showell @ Abbey Road, is nothing but a sonic triumph to my ears. Instrument seperation is marvelous as is the presence of John Deacon's bass guitar which is finally audible. All is sounding so beautifully natural, as the piano and accoustic guitar on Love Of My Life or the banjo on Good Company, and these are not my favourites by far.
The pressing: No audible clicks or hiss, another fine job done by Optimal.
Didn't listen to Queen for years, listening to this album now I wonder why I didn't...
Well, Bohemian Rhapsody now has some noise, very sad... On the last "real" track... 🥴
Still, this is the best this album is able to sound like. At least to my humble ears... Would be five * if Bohemian Rhapsody sounded like the rest. -
A truly awful remastering - muddy, over-blown bass, full of crackles, missing some track layers, there's no dynamic nuance (a huge part of the original recording) and basically sounds like my needle needs replacing when it doesn't. This is one of my favourite albums and this re-recording of it is so bad that I've dug out my old CD again, because that sounds better. I've got an original vinyl to compare to as well, and it's stratospherically better. This reissue is embarassingly bad and does Queen no favours.

A great modernization, but no substitute for an old pressing from the time of release. Great punch and bass, but lacks in dynamics. Sounds very "modern". Came in great condition and packed well in a poly-inner. Get this, as long as you don't expect that vintage sound of the seventies.

So pleased to see this in more shops I’ve been visiting recently. It really is an incredible pressing and for anyone starting out the audio quality will stand out compared to most. Highly recommend
-
Exceptional quality pressing - very happy with it although haven't compared with any original pressings.

The pinnacle artist statement by Queen.
The 2005/2011 CD Ludwig is the best version of this so far. Like all the 2015 1/2 speed pressings it’s boomy so you have to roll off the bass! -
After hearing this album in the 70's I always wanted to buy one but never did... so release of 2015 I decided to go, no regrets
