Agree wholeheartedly with what others have said. This album is definitely underrated, including by band who played on it. Apart from the abrasive closer "Papal Visit", the songs here are upbeat and enjoyable, i.e., very much in the mold of classic Fall tracks. I've owned one copy of the original pressing, and it was saturated with surface noise. Hope I can find another copy without this flaw.

Yes....greatly overlooked, terribly so...even years ago...never really considered a 'proper album', but the fall never truly missed the mark no pun etc until much much much later...so a great long player...most similar to perverted by language, sprawling, innovative & inventive, everyone on top form but w/out the smoothing pop brix influence...fall fact: you can fit the line lp on one side of a c90 tape & then tape the slates 10" twice on the other side. Try it ...you'll like it!

An incredibly underrated Fall album. Seems to slip between the cracks, surrounded by more famous releases. Worth seeking out. One of my favorites.
