'Angry Dolphin' is and always will be my favorite Plaid track. I first heard it on Mixmasters Morris's 6AM chill out mix in 1997. A legendary mix in my home and Angry Dolphin is big piece of the puzzle on that compilation. A classy song that stands the test of time and is memorable ach time you hear it. A classic of the genre and sort of unknown to drum n bass fans since it comes from a more techno outfit.
Shows the talents of these guys and what they did 30 years ago. -
Edited one year agoAn excellent EP, and timewise it is interesting to note that it was released just two months after The Black Dog's "Spanners". At what point in time did Turner and Handley break up with Dowie exactly ?

Edited 18 years agoWorth owning purely for the track "Angry Dolphin" which showcases Ed and Andy's DNB skills to maximum effect. A slow burner which somehow manages to be jazzy, playful, devastating and melodic as it progresses. I believe Plaid never continued with this style in any of their subsequent releases, which is a shame really. Their skills with a drum machine are just as impressive as their talent for melody and atmospherics, and although I never really liked their direction post Double Figure, their back catalogue is filled with classics such as this.
Oh, and Clear was a fantastic label too.
