Edited 24 days agoWow, nice work on this one. Anyone have pops\crackling side B at the end of "So What" the last song? Looks like a pressing abberation. The rest is perfect. #8768.

Amazing pressing and performance on display here. A must have for Bill Evans fans and one of the best sounding live jazz albums i personally own. RSD said 4500 were pressed yet I have #5713 of “Limited Edition First Pressing of” 8,850, which is my only real complaint. It would be nice for RSD to stick to their quoted numbers of pressing as oft times when compiling an RSD list, that number can make or break whether you will want to get later or “need” to get it now! That aside, it’s a spectacular outing by The Bill Evans Trio.

Edited 5 months agoI've purchased nearly all of the Elemental/ Resonance Bill Evans RSD releases over the past dozen years. Not all of them have been home runs for me, and I've sold off a few. This one is actually growing in stature for me the more I listen to it. The sound quality is very good, the set list is lively and Bill, Eddie and Marty all sound emotionally invested in the performances. At this point I think this might give Montreux II a run for it's money. No problems with my pressing - flat, a wash took care of any noise, etc. 4.5 stars overall.

Every year, Zev Feldman miraculously rescues a set of Bill Evans tapes from languishing in oblivion, just in time for Record Store Day. This release is a home run, a brilliant 1970 trio concert, expertly performed and recorded. Be sure to stick around for the last track, "Nardis", with a building dirge intro that explores stacked 4ths and pentatonic harmony to a high degree. On YouTube, there's a video from a house concert in Finland where Bill similarly knocks the pants off this piece. Check it.
The piano is tracked cleanly with good dynamics. Eddie's bass is 3-dimensional and floats beautifully in the mix with huge bottom. Drums are subtle, yet push the arrangements along nicely.
The product itself has exceptionally clean vinyl, with no errors, and the typical beautifully produced gatefold sleeve with sharp images, and a lovely 13 page color booklet. There is track ghosting in the quiet parts, but not terrible. Some detectable inner groove distortion on A4.
Was $50 at my store this morning and worth it.

Fantastic pressing and flawless presentation. The discs spin flat and the sound is superb. Very low noise even on first play. Wish the sleeves were better for the price point but overall happy I picked it up. The booklet is spectacular.
