Primitive and repetitious patterns without anything one would consider trendy. Not really music, but a wall of sound, impressions of ancient nature, choice of modern shaman. One either hates or loves this kind of stuff, it depends of the objective. If you just seek for music to listen, you will be disappointed and confused. It's just the same same thing looping over and over again. But if you seek sonic experience, get easily in "the state" by patterns and have ear for subtle details, then you may find this record transcendent experience.

As I'm sure many are anticipating at the moment, A Gas box set is on the way via Kompakt, all albums each properly reissued as triple LP's. Incredible news!

dear wolfgang,
i have to it that back in 2000 my head was so far up my ass on what i thought was "good electronic music" as i continued to collect labels whilst ignoring others. i wish i could say to you "well i was starting a record label and really was living in my obsessive-compulsive world where nothing penetrated", but that excuse carries no weight because i discovered new music all the time, and most especially since i was already spinning tunes from your kompakt label. see, back then i was listening to pbo, machine drum and the m3rck and wobblyhead crew came to town and played at the empty bottle, prefuse all over the rapid transit comp, def jux was starting to bloom, i was mo'wax crazy and rawkus was dying while chicago (and to that extent, midwestern) hip-hop was what i was getting into.
where do i begin, wolfgang? i mean, i was all into the orb, and fsol so listening to you would be the next extension, right? well, no. i didn't like your label at the time. i must it how disappointed i was in the albums by kid 606 and the crappy "clicks and cuts" comp, so yeah, i missed out on "pop".
that's why i'm writing this today, because of discogs, i'm able to have this album on vinyl (about 14 years late), and rejoice in the beauty of an album that is so forward thinking, yet so fucking simple and complex at the same time.
so, wolfgang when you used the gas moniker to come up w/ the album "pop"? that was cool.
easy,
the rev.
