The vinyl was cut from exactly the same compressed master used to produce the digital formats.

The vinyl does sound less in your face and more dynamic but of course this is all essentially analogue “distortion” and the limitations of vinyl.

    It’s a nicer listen of course but…..

Clean, quiet, flat pressing. Atmospheric soundscapes and intricate rhythms. The production is immaculate, with the bright mix bringing out the depth and clarity of every instrument and vocal layer. Gabriel’s voice remains as captivating as ever, delivering profound lyrics with a timeless sincerity. Lossless from Bandcamp, something I wish were standard for all new release vinyl.

I purchased a copy of Bright-Side Mix and it has lots of surface noise, pops and crackle and in some parts really bad. I cleaned with a Project cleaning machine but didn’t make any difference. I must have a bad pressing but looking on other comments it seems hit and miss if you get a good copy.

One of the best (maybe the best?) album of Peter Gabriel. Just get this. Dark Side or Bright Side, you won't regret it.

An absolute sonic masterpiece. I cant decide if I prefer Bright or Dark, but whichever version you listen to, the album is utterly mesmerising. Listening again right now: the orchestral crescendo in the latter part of Playing For Time makes my soul ache every single time I hear it. Powerful, thought provoking lyrics combined with musical magnificence - new albums in 2023/24 don’t get any better than this. Great pressing too 👍

Lovely pressing, superb production, perfect booklet, excellent singing, but no code printed on the voucher

Perfect pressing. Perfect album. Sound like Peter is 40 years old again. Get this album.

Great songs and fabulous production and pressing. It was worth the wait for some more original music from him. I/O is way better than his last original effort Up. The code was however a bogus addition since there actually was no code printed on the card.

Just picked this up for £38 and 😬 a bit at the price. New vinyl prices are at a ridiculous level at the moment. Gave them a wash as I always do even with new records. WOW! This has to be one of the best recordings in my collection, if you have the system this will rattle your fillings. Clearly a quality product and they’ve gone to someone who can press dead flat silent vinyl. The reason for two discs must be to squeeze every last inch of sound quality out of vinyl. Top notch and Playing for time is now my go to demo track for friends
