Its great to have these classics in the proper format. A very well curated collection, there is not a lot of of overlap with the numerous CD compilations that I have. Sounds very musical and alive. -
A pleasant a nicely curated collection of songs as to be expected by Soul Jazz records. My only question - are these recordings more gritty and distorted then they ought to be or is that the intended quality? Everything seems rather distorted and ‘bassy’ -
I don't have a lot of Ska exposure, so I don't know how the songs in this collection compare to the average. However, musically this is varried & absolutely fantastic. Sonically it's very good too. Sound has a grit that I think suits the genre. I like my audiophile recordings. This isn't one of them, though it sounds great and not being overly polished ads rather than detracts. My discs were properly labeled, flat, relatively clean, without no-fill. A solid buy.

My copy disc 1 is mislabeled. Side 1 is actually side 2 and side 2 is actually side 1. Overall great album.
