This pressing isn’t very good. It’s very obviously a CD master just cut to vinyl, and even Kevin Gray can’t save it. It sounds at best average, and has moments where it is straight up bad.
The reason to buy this is the collectability of it and the fact that this version doesn’t have the butchered “Hash Pipe”, but other than that, it’s not sonically impressive at all. -
Really good pressing, it's punchy and loud and the green colour is awesome, I can't say the same for the 2016 reissue as I don't own it.

Edited one year agoI don’t get all the hate for this album, it got mostly crap reviews when it came out and even a lot of Weezer fans seem to think it kind of sucks. Sure, it may not be as solid as ”the blue album” or Pinkerton (which got possibly even worse reviews when it came out, btw) but it has a couple of really great songs, especially Photograph which in my opinion is the best Weezer tune post-1996.

Is there a way to discern if a sealed original pressing is on green vinyl or black - i.e. did the green vinyl press contain a hype sticker specifying the edition? It appears both versions have the same barcode and catalog numbers.
-
For the record, this and the accompanying black version are the only pressings of this album which contain the proper version of Hash Pipe. The MoFi pressing and subsequent new inexpensive retail versions all contain the UK single version which totally butchers the song.

I would have to agree that this album is dead silent. It only has noise when you have dust on it (which you should obviously remove). In my opinion this is the pressing to get, pay the extra money. You don't have an omitted chorus like the remastered version. This would be an example of an album you can play for someone to show them the superiority of vinyl over compact discs and mp3s. Truly flawless.

Got a copy of this directly from the band (I worked for them for a short time). Dead quiet pressing and great mastering. Flawless!
