Edited one month agoDynamics from way over there to just over here.
Full bottom.
A great reissue.
Slight edge warp on both discs, but play through no problem.
Very little surface noise on mine.
The packaging for a gatefold is pretty minimal, but that kind of fits in with the vibe of the thing.
Hypnotic.
Narcotic.
You’ll get lost in about 200 bars.

Mastering is excellent.
Pressing quality is not great but not horrible. Mine mainly have pops and clicks in various songs, especially during quiet parts (this is after a wet cleaning). Inner sleeves should have been better, as others mentioned. I also have a minor edge warp on side C.
All in all, though, I recommend this one. But buy it from a retailer where returns are relatively easy in case you get one that’s not up to par. -

I’ve learned you really need to clean these Fat Possum releases. I spin cleaned this twice before dropping a needle on it and it plays clean as a whistle. The mastering is quite good. Wide open soundstage and the sonic textures and stereo panning both really shine on this. It’s well done.

Edited 3 years agoGreat sounding remaster, but the vinyl qualitiy isn't well. Problem seems to be the original inner sleeve, which is in poor quality. To tight and not clean. After cleaning with Knosti and supersonic afterwards still some plopps and klicks on vinyl. There are also to many scratches, which make noises. Such a great mastering and good sounding release on such a poor vinyl quality. I would prefer to pay maybe 5 Euros on top, but get a good quality than. Just my 5 Cents.

Had to take my first copy back because of too many pops and clicks, Second copy is much better except for a few ticks at the run out of Shine a Light.
-
Arrived with record 2 warped and full of pops and clicks. Has improved with a wet clean, but the quality control at Fat Possum must be non-existant.

Expectations were low from other reviews, but I'm impressed by the high quality sound – particularly the resonant low-end and overall clarity of the mix & master. My copy came relatively clean, just needed a dry brush. A little bit of noise at the very beginning of Side C and early runout clicks/thumps at the end of most sides. No manufacturing crud buildup as I've come to expect with many indie reissues these days.
The thick glossy paper inners are good quality but a missed visual opportunity with boring zoom-ins of the cover art, which pales next to the colorful inners of the first issues. The gatefold also really wants to stay open, and it's a bit of a challenge to squeeze it into a plastic outer -
If you are unhappy with the pressing quality of your copy, the label. Mine had incessant clicks and pops at the end of every side, with the worst during '200 Bars', ruining the song. The label replied quickly saying they are aware of the issue and had already started repressing. They sent me a new copy immediately. No questions asked. Will update when I receive the new copy.
