Much better live album than I expected when first listening. The live performances breathe some new life into the mid to late 80s tracks, making them quite engaging. There's a sense of urgency and purpose to some of these tracks which isn't present on the studio versions. The use of keys/synths comes much more tasteful than it did in albums like Power Windows. Maybe it's because they're drowned out by guitar and the heavy drums in this recording, but it's a welcome surprise. Speaking of drums, Neil really sounds great on here, thank god- as I expected his playing to be totally buried in the the live mix. He has some cool (and tasteful) effects and electronic drums as well, a nice variety. That's about it really. Oh and the album cover is god awful. I wouldn't blame someone for avoiding it solely based on that. I almost did.
