Revisited this and again I'm disappointed by the mastering. Bass is boomy and it sure isn't on the high rez files. Seems more compressed also. Lower rez copy of the master used to cut the vinyl I suspect.
-
Little to no noise on my copy. A few noticeable pops, but few enough to count on one hand. The most glaring issue, though, is how indecisive this record seems to be about what channel it wants to play through. Seems to switch from mono to stereo at random points, worst of all on the latter half of side B. Sucks for an LP pressed for such a broad soundstage, but eh, what can ya do? Looks good in my collection I suppose...

Edited 3 years agoThe A side sounds pretty nice. Some pops and clicks here and there, but that's to be expected. The B side, however, sounds horrible. Riddled with pops and clicks and tons of surface noise, especially the first few minutes.
It's a shame, because the dynamics on this record are pretty damn awesome.
I gave it 2 stars, because the amount of surface noise on side B renders it pretty much unplayable. -

Edited 3 years agoa ton of noise on this. cleaned multiple times and still sounds like crap, esp nearing the beginning of Sunglasses and the end of Opus
when it gets real loud though, that's when the noise disappears. play it to your heart's content.

i'm glad i own it for collecting's sake but i never spin this one because it actually sounds terrible. not sure if it's just the white vinyl or what but yeah there's an unacceptable amount of noise towards the end of opus
-
I’m very confused why people say this record sounds bad, at least one of the copies I own sounds amazing and had little to no surface noise at all. Maybe that’s just my copy so stay safe y’all

Mine has also no surface noise at all. The quality of the vinyl mastering is actually good but not impressive....
The music itself ist really great!!! -
My copy sounds perfectly fine. Actually the clarity is amazing and the colour of the wax is phenomenal. Love the lyric booklet that comes with it. Defined one of the best albums of the year.
