Black Country, New Road – For The First Time

Obviously not a test pressing. I think we can all leave reviews about the sound quality now! I put off spinning this for over a year, as I have two other copies and I heard some people saying this was another noisy pressing of the (wonderful) album. Now that I’ve spun it, I can confidently say this pressing blows my other two out of the water! This has FAR less surface noise -almost none- compared to my Big Love clear rose pressing, which was just a bit worse than my green marbled pressing. The dynamics on this version are MUCH wider, the lows feel much rounder and don’t muddy when turned up loud, and the highs are far less hot/distorted. For such a busy album, it really needs the room to breathe that this pressing offers. Isaac’s sporadic, scratched out guitar intro on Science Fair has never sounded better on vinyl. Maybe it’s something about putting this album on colored wax that brings the quality down, but I spun a standard black repress after wet cleaning that I gifted to a friend, and I don’t recall hearing this stark a difference. I highly recommend picking up this version of the album - band signatures aside!!

My copy must be this, as it seems to be the only one with the same hype sticker, but the MPO press code starts with 20 (188515/6) which is a slightly larger number than colour variants which came out upon release. Slightly warped, but decent sounding copy.

Picked this one up to match my JP copy of AFUT. This is not a terrible sounding record, but it is nowhere near the quality of that AFUT rose pressing. FTFT has a muddier sound, and the record has some light surface noise that did not go away after wet cleaning. Sounds slightly worse than my green marbled pressing.

i mean, it's good this isn't being sold for inflated prices, but i wonder why this doesn't seem to be worth anything. it's handled as the best pressing of this record and it's obviously very limited (limited to 1000 apparently). there's only 1 in the marketplace right now. weird.

Incredible! Was expecting low from what others say but this blew my mind. Sounded incredible and was perfectly flat. So glad to finally own this on vinyl.

Gorgeous pressing. My copy was nice'n'clean from the factory and it plays perfectly silent. Not a single click. The lush and warm, but still open sound, fits me well. I couldn't been happier about this purchase.

My white copy is horrible, really, i can't listen it. When i see the comment here, i will not test a black copy, sad :(

Mine came slightly warped but it doesn't affect the sound.
