Better than the original version IMO. Has the raw production that made the first two albums so great to hear back then. All of the albums in this series are outstanding versions of the original but this one stands out. Bass on Working for the Man is pretty sick.

Edited one year agoI love this record. I’m likely in the minority but I was disappointed by To Bring You My Love when it came out after being an extreme fan of Dry and Rid Of Me. This demos record sounds closer to what I was expecting then, than what I got. Somehow these demos have the more raw energy of those first two albums, even if they are not dramatically different from the final album. That said, I learned to love that Polly Jean would continue to change so much from record fo record and learned to accept that the band “PJ Harvey” that recoded the first two albums ceased to exist and what was left was a solo artist that refused to stand still or be pigeon-holed. While her constant changes were difficult to handle for many fans for many years, the end result is a brilliant body of work taken as a whole and an artist that is still making great and relevant music 30 years into her career. Plenty of her albums such as Stories From The City that were dismissed upon release are now considered classics in hindsight. The often radical departure from album to album was just hard to keep up with for many as it was happening, myself included. That said, I learned to love To Bring You My Love, but these demos really hit for me as something that I know I would have loved at the time. A really great record to own. As essential as the final album, for me.

Posting here in case others, like me assumed all copies come with cards. I bought these 5 demo LPs just recently from a very large US-based web store. There is no pattern I can figure out as to which ones come with the sticker and card.
1) PJ Harvey - Dry - Demos - HAS sticker. presumably card, no "Autorip" from merchant
2) PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love - Demos - HAS sticker. presumably card, HAS "Autorip" from merchant
3) PJ Harvey - Is This Desire? - Demos - no sticker. presumably no card, no "Autorip" from merchant
4) PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea - Demos - no sticker. presumably no card, HAS "Autorip" from merchant
5) PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her – Demos - no sticker. presumably no card, HAS "Autorip" from merchant -
All of the recent Demo releases have been absolutely outstanding in audio quality and presentation. I would recommend this series of albums as a must buy or listen.

Fantastic! Clean, flat and detailed pressing. Dynamic! It has a full and rich sound. I got mine from Amazon. This one was done right!

Edited 4 years agoGot mine 10 September. Lovely to have this. The demos are very good indeed and more similar to the final songs than I expected. What a clever lady. No complaints about the pressing either; well centered and flat with no surface noise or clicks / pops. The sound quality of the recording is a little lofi as you’d expect of demos but is actually pretty good. Lovely to have this alongside my original pressing of TBYML.
