Edited 3 months agoI recommend this pressing…. Bass is tight.. general sound is dynamic and clear… I quite enjoy it! No noise

The SQ on this record is one of the best in the PJ catalog. It is dynamic and adds a whole new experience when listening to the record. I enjoyed this album streaming over Apple Music but found myself skipping over tracks, particularly the slower tunes. Side A rocks, Side B is a blend of rockign tunes + slower tunes, Side C is mellow. There are sounds on the vinyl that cannot be heard versus (excuse the pun) streaming. Choose your listening experience!... The packaging is fantastic too. Excellent job PJ. Don't sleep on purchasing this record. It's worth the investment.

An album a thousand years wide? The mastering of this pressing is pretty incredible, ridiculous separation between the instruments, the album sounds huge.
If you’ve only listened to this digitally, highly recommend picking up a copy just to hear how different it is -
I'm suprised there isn't more talk about the US pressing of Gigaton. The term "audiophile" is often overstressed and so far Pearl Jam pressings weren't really famous for that, but this is actually an audiophile pressing! It's cut by the acclaimed engineer Chris Bellman, and pressed at Quality Record Pressings, the pressing plant of the leading audiophile label Analogue Productions. That's a combination you won't often find outside the audiophile niche market.
And indeed this sounds spectacular, like listening to a different album compared to the digital releases! So much more immersive and detailed, with more punch and a much bigger soundstage, almost like you are sitting in the studio with the band. A great example is "Seven O'Clock", with layers upon layers of crystal clear soundwaves, wow!! This has so much more life than the digital version and you don't need high-end equipment to experience that (I don't have it myself), the difference is just that obvious.
And man, let's also talk about the packaging, the most deluxe gatefold jacket I have seen in a while! Very thick, sturdy cardboard, textured details and a beautiful metallic finish. This sleeve is a work of art on its own! And then there's also the booklet, which again is of the highest quality, with a glossy cover and matte pages. The discs themselves are well protected in polylined inner sleeves.
The quality of this whole thing, from the audiophile vinyl to the luxurious packaging, is something you hardly find for a release by a big band that is available at every retailer. Pearl Jam really made it clear with this how much they care for vinyl. If you haven't yet, get this while you can! This won't be available forever and you never know if future pressings will be of a similar quality. I doubt it actually, this first pressing is just too good. -
Edited 3 years agoI have the US and EU version (In The Midst Of The 6th) , and I can say that this version is much better, more vivid and sharper, with breadth on the sound stage, buy the American version (Is This You?")

This is the best Pearl Jam album in 18 years (since Riot Act). And the vinyl is superb. Yes, its pricey for a double LP, but it's worth it. Who else makes a great album 30 years into their career?

Listened to this album the instant it dropped digitally, and picked up the Dance of the Clairvoyants 7" not long after, as it was my favorite track from the album. Gigaton has got to be one of my favorite PJ releases thus far, and I dig their sound in this one. So many excellent tracks, and I personally think the decision to not stretch the 12 tracks over all 4 sides of the two discs was the right move. The packaging was fantastic- thick cardboard with a metallic finish, and a thick plastic hype sticker listing the tracks on the rear. The production quality on this release is superb, although I'm not sure if I would have picked it up for its full price, as I got it on sale. The pressing is excellent as well- minimal to no surface noise and great sound!
EDIT: I’ve listened to this album a few times since I got it and each time I’m impressed by the sound- this sounds like an audiophile release! And makes sense too given that it’s pressed at the same plant as the revered Analogue Productions reissues! -
Edited 5 years agoSome people like it, some people don't. I am not going to judge the music; it's very subjective. But I will speak about the actual record, physically. I don't like it is only three sides (A, B, and C -no D). I also do not like the fact that it's so hard to put the vinyls back inside the jacket. At this price, they could have done a better job deg the jacket. I do not like the cover either (the picture, the art), but I do appreciate the lyrics booklet inside. That's all I wanted to say. Yes. It's too expensive. $29.99 would have been expensive already, but not that much! (I paid $38.99). And no mp3 code! WTF?!?!
The pressing is just fine. No problem there. -

Edited 5 years agoGot this in the mail yesterday (day of release). Love it. They did such a great job on this album. Sound was awesome, packaging was beautiful. The gate fold has a metalic-esque shine to it and is really sturdy. The booklet was well made with really nice photos, and to top it all off it was pressed by QRP. Overall great presentation and great album. I look forward to years of listening to this album.
As far as the comments about price, I kinda felt the same way when I pre ordered this. Grand total for the bundle (LP + 7") came out to 52$. Since the 7" costs 10$ by itself, the bundle basically gives it to you for free. But getting it on the day of release, given the current pandemic, worked out for me. Looking back now... was 52$ too much? Eh... Its a great Pearl Jam album and thats what matters.
Is 44Euro a lot before shipping? YES.
