Edited 5 years agowill probably receive a ton of hate for this but I still think this is a over rated album, there was a lot of hype at the time regarding this band(good reviews in Thrasher and most of the Metal mags..and as expected not so popular in Max RnR which really just created more interest for this lp) and a few tracks were played on the UK radio by both John Peel and Tommy Vance.. it all sounded very promising so I bought the record as soon as it came out (which was a year late in the UK!-release was delayed... same as Slayer's "R.I.B.") Slayer sounded amazing then.. something new, this album just struck me as good but nothing special(compared to Bad brains, Discharge, Antidote, Negative Approach, SSD etc all years before this).. the first track is great but just a reworking of "At The Movies" and the rest is a good mix of Motorhead/NA/Discharge/Bad Brains.. nothing that original and the production is too clean.
I think one of the reasons this LP is so popular is its timing with the whole crossover scene, and with its major label distribution this was probably an early introduction for newer kids/Metalheads to check out this "new" Hardcore music that was already 6 years old. And i'm sure the Cro-Mags were great live(and their tape is better) but this is not a classic album for me (sorry...) -
I have a question, Al these reissues from the 2000s. Mastered from what? Probably a Profile or another planet cd right? artwork scanned from an old LP? Man, I'm glad I have an original LP purchased for under 10 bucks decades ago. There are 100,000 of these floating around...and 75 bucks or more a pop now........oof
