Notes
Slightly different from Pat Metheny - New Chautauqua: this version is etched with John Bittner (JB) on both sides, while the other version is stamped with both Bittner and Greg Fulginiti (GF).

Edited 2 years agoOf his massive catalog ranging from fusion, straight ahead to Brazilian and experimental, this 4th studio effort from Pat Metheny is one of the flyover albums, IMO. Pat plays all guitars, multitracking bass(mediocre playing) and other stringed instruments. The compositions are fine enough and his playing is contemplative, however, coming off the incredible energy and creative brainstorm that was "Pat Metheny Group"[The White Album], this one is a bit of a let down. On the other hand, if you love early '70s Ralph Towner, you may really like this.
ProTip: The three most beautiful tunes are on side B, start there and work your way to side A for a more enjoyable ride.
3 stars.
