As per my typical, usual, predictable and irritating self I'm going to be presumptious with people's preferences regarding this release and say that I'm probably the 0.5% who doen't like the main track on this release. Why? Because for me it's a fairly typical 'Trance or Hard Trance' track and I've never generally been fond of Trance. Yes, even Trance from the supposed 'golden' age of 1992 to 1994? When Trance was supposed to be good. In my opinion, Trance was seldom good. Watered down music. And even the few times I might like a Trance track, it's frequently so far closer to the Techno (or even the Hard(core) Acid spectrum), you might as well just call it Techno or Acid anyway. So no, even this early Trance classic doesn't cut the mustard with me. Hey, I might have crap taste in music, but I don't give a toss, it's my taste in music, no one else's :)
I predictably prefer side B. It's more of a dark, murky, labyrinthian Techno and Acid track. When I first heard this release on Colin Dale's Abstract Dance Show, he played both tracks, what made me go out and purchase it do you reckon, side A? No chance! Side B all the way. And which of the tracks made an impact on me whilst rushing on one and a half pink callies clenching my jaw on the club's dancefloor? You've guessed it, side B Distursancing. -
requim is a pure trance track, miles away from the crappy thing they called trance after 93...It has everything, a nice mood, nice acid sounds, nice melody and gimmick, definitely an amazing track.
