Vs. is the second studio album by American rock band Pearl Jam, released on October 19, 1993 through Epic Records. After a relentless touring schedule in of their 1991 debut album Ten, Pearl Jam headed into the studio in early 1993 facing the challenge of following up the commercial success of its debut. The resulting album, Vs., featured a rawer and more aggressive sound compared with the band's previous release. It was the band's first collaboration with producer Brendan O'Brien, and their first album with drummer Dave Abbruzzese.
Pearl Jam decided to scale back its commercial efforts for Vs., including declining to produce music videos for any of the album's singles. Upon its release, Vs. set the record for most copies of an album sold in its first week, a record it held for five years. Vs. occupied the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for five weeks, the longest duration for a Pearl Jam album. The album has been certified seven times platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

Just compared to the 2011 pressing. This blows it out the water. Vocals are clearer, the soundstage is wider and the high end is super crisp. Highly recommend if you can find for a reasonable price.

I bought this pressing about 10 years ago because I love the album — but honestly, I was really disappointed with the dynamics and the overall muddy mix. Based on a recommendation from a reviewer here, I decided to try the 1993 edition (if you can afford it, of course), and the difference is massive. Comparing the two pressings really highlights just how poor this one is — I mean, it’s seriously bad.
If the '93 edition is out of your budget, the CD version is a solid compromise. Brendan O’Brien put a lot of care into these tracks, and this album deserves to be heard the way it was meant to sound. -

sounds great! United Record Pressing is very reliable and i have no issues with them! and this is actually my #1 favorite press by them! I just love its cardboard smell, its packaging, and its strong thick feel! 10 out of 10! -

I agree it’s quiet. Not the best press. But no pops or crackles on my copy. Turn up the gain to 44bB and tweak the eq and it’s all good. -

Let me echo everyone talking about how incredible this pressing is. I bought this new when I was in middle school and the sleeve's definitely showing its age, but the wax is transcendent. Never been cleaned, still in the original paper inner, and it sounds like they're playing in my living room. I have brand new LPs that aren't this crisp and spacious. The separation on Elderly Woman is absurd. (Incidentally, mine's variant 6 and there's no issue on Dissident.) -
