Notes
First released on Boris' own label Fangs Anal Satan in 1996 as a single track, 60:15 CD. The band also stated in interviews that they regard this as a single, rather than an album.
It was extended in 2001 with the additional track "Dronevil2" from 1997 and issued on CD as "Absolutego+ (Special Low Frequency Version)" by Southern Lord. The contained version of the track Absolutego is more than 5 minutes longer.
First appeared on vinyl in 2010, also on Southern Lord as "Absolutego+" (again with "Dronevil2").
Both media were marketed as album(s).
2020 saw a remastered reissue on Third Man Records, with the original 60.15 version of "Absoluteego" and "Dronevil2" on vinyl and on all major digital / streaming platforms. This is both referred to as "single" and "album".

Edited 2 months agoThis pressing is very, very quiet. I'm not familiar with the original recording otherwise so I may be talking out of my ass but this is not the Boris album to use if you are trying to spite your neighbors.
Also something about this record makes my turntable randomly retract and stop playing in the middle of the track as if it has reached the end of the groove. Probably a turntable issue but I've only had it on this record. Turntuble may be shutting down in self defense. -
Is this album normally so quiet? I have to crank the volume up. a lot to get some power. Boris is the last band to have such a quiet record. My record sounds great but as the other commenter stated, did come with scuffs right out of the seal. In of the music, this is an iconic Boris album and any fan of drone should own a copy of this album.

Edited 2 years agoExcellent quality pressing. As an aside, I wasn't aware that the Absolutego+ was the low frequency version, the (+) is the differentiator. Hopefully this helps s looking for the LFV in vinyl format.
This makes complete sense for me now because, the bass drone is impressive in this version. Overall great quality and low noise (no clicks or pops). -
I have this edition but with the exact matrix and code numbers of the orange case edition, Variant 2.
Anyone else? -

If you are listening for the first time, I would avoid the Southern Lord "Special Low Frequency Version" releases of Absolutego. That remastered version is very different from the original, it's slightly slower with more distortion and lower fidelity. Basically sounds like the original recorded inside of a trash can, but it does have its own appeal.
The original CDs are in short supply now, my preferred version is the original, but the newer remaster is also pretty decent if you can get over how loud it was made. -

absolutely crushing. makes me jealous i was never able to see this live with the literally shaking me up and down. -
Somehow Third Man Records often have quality issues concerning the pressing.
Bought new, LP 2 seide 2 suffers from bad surface noises, had 3 scratches and multipöe shadings on it (Even washing it 2 times did not affect the surface noise). And on both LPs the holes were much to small and did not fit on the player. Already the third time I have issues with their pressings ... -

This album is bursting with life in a way that some might not find appealing, which is understandable. As a dedicated noise fan, I think this album stands above its contemporaries, both in the Drone Doom subgenre as well as most HNW projects.
What I find most appealing about Absolutego is the attention to detail. When I take the time to really focus on the track, I notice so many layers of sound and fury all coming together to create an almost hypnotic listening experience. Its not just "a really long sound" as I've heard some people describe the album as.
Though it does progress slowly, Absolutego is so densely layered and jam packed with sound that every minute that es by provides the listener with so many details to catch, and even more to be discovered upon later listening.
Absolutego is absolutely essential for fans of noise. Even though technically its a Doom Metal album, the approach here can be much greater appreciated by people already interested in relentless and unforgiving soundscapes.
If the idea of sitting through one solo Merzbow album makes your stomach churn, that's likely a sign you won't find this album as interesting as I did.
But anyone who is a fan of noise should definitely get this album into their collection.

I was a sad man the day I went to my local music store to pick this up and they only had 1 copy left with a broken orange jewel case.
