Notes

Originally released in the UK on 12 November 1990 as a "little fluffy 7"", a "big fluffy 12"", and a CD single. A remix 12" was subsequently released as well.

In the U.S. it was issued in 1991 on 12" vinyl and a "12" CD" CD maxi-single, both containing some new remixes for the U.S. market by Coldcut.

It was reissued in the UK in November 1993 as a cassette single (containing the tracks from the 1990 7"), the 12" single, the remix 12", and the CD single.

"Little Fluffy Clouds (Ambient Mk 1)" on the UK 12" and CD single releases is an early fade with a duration of 4:28. The full 9:09 minute version was exclusively released in 1996 on the compilation This Is... Techno.

New remixes were released in 1998 on a variety of formats featuring new cover art.

The vocal sample is lifted from a promo interview on the Flying Cowboys / A Conversation With Rickie Lee Jones box set, called "A Conversation With Ricki Lee Jones".

To anyone who used to go to Brixton Academy to see these guys - drop one or two and just chill I tip my cap to you. And to the Whirl-y-gig crew at Shoreditch Town Hall peace out. A sublime antidote to Thursdays at RAGE and Fridays at Club UK or Vivid. This tune will send me on my way when the time comes.

Still sounds amazing in 2024. If it wasn't for some of the vocal chops, the cumulo-nimbus mix could've been released yesterday....it's aged exceptionally well...

Different mix of Pal Joey's Cumulonimbus mix on this double 12". 6:23 as opposed to 6:10 on the other 12"s with this mix. Different intro and perhaps a "dubbier" feel than the original PJ mix ...

"Little Fluffy Clouds (Ambient Mk 1)" ends with a fade-out after about 4½ minutes just when the beat enters, probably due to Gallup chart regulations that would not allow a "Single" to be longer than 20 minutes. The full 9 (!) minute version was inconspicuously and exclusively released years later on the Beechwood Compilation This Is... Techno, which is worth getting alone for this track and for the only (non-DJ mixed) CD appearance of Carl Craig's mindblowing "Drums Suck" mix of Dave Angel's "Airbourne".

This is essentially an alternate version of "Little Fluffy Clouds (Inner Master Mix)"; it has a different beat and a few other slightly different elements, but much of the rest of it is the same. I suppose this implies it's a Coldcut remix, but no credits are given. It has a vaguely un(der)finished feel to it, which is possibly why the "Inner Master" version was released instead.

Note: unfortunately, the file as shared has digital skips at 3:31 and 5:09.
