Notes
Kraftwerk's ninth studio album, released in November 1986, five-and-a-half years after the previous album, 'Tour De '.
As with all of Kraftwerk's studio albums from 'Trans Europa Express' (1977) onwards, 'Electric Café' was issued in English- and German-language versions. A Spanish-language version – the 'Edición Española' – was also available for a limited time. Unlike earlier albums, all versions of 'Electric Café' feature lyrics in several languages.
In 2009 a remastered version was released under one of the album's working titles, 'Techno Pop'. On this version the original 8:03 album version of 'The Telephone Call' was replaced by two tracks: the 7" mix of 'The Telephone Call' (3:50) and the remix 'House Phone' (4:57). Both had originally appeared on the single release of 'Der Telefon Anruf'.
Although Wolfgang Flür was a member of Kraftwerk until 1987, he did not perform on the album.

Edited one month agoThis is the one to get.
1. Not sure what year it was made, but it uses the original master & mix of the album (which for the record I happen to love, side B included)n instead pg the travesty that was used for the post 2009 remastered reissues with the atrocious edit and remix of "The telephone call".
2. It looks fantastic - gatefold sleeve, 12 x 12" insert, same center labels as the other vintage issues.
3. Most importantly - the cut sounds AMAZING, and frankly miles ahead of the German / European pressings I know. Not sure the other US issues are like this, but the grooves are much wider than on the German-pressed version I also own - the music covers almost the entirety of each side, with practically no dead wax at all (there's a lot of it on the German one). Ridiculously low noise floor, incredible dynamics, amazing level of detail, and fantastic extension at both ends - the BASS beats absolutely all the other versions I've heard (German pressing, original English and German language CDs - which do sound great though, 2004 Catalogue Promo box CD, 2009 Catalogue commercially released atrocity CD. Haven't bothered with the 2009 remastered LP, which I know uses the same "Techno Pop" remaster as the CD.) Every subtlety in François K's mix shines through, the grain of the sampled / CG vocals is amazing. I don't think you'll find a better sounding version that this. -
An excellent release. Great dynamics, punchy and crystal clear sound. No pops, clicks or distortion. Sound image is very enjoyable. This make your system shine if your speakers go low. Lots of fun!

The original German CD pressing seems to be more than holding its value. The same came be said for the original UK pressing, although not as much. Most CD's are worth pennies after a few years, so if you have these pressings, well worth keeping hold of

Edited 2 months agoPurchased brand new in an MINT condition, vinyl record is flat on side No.2 and nearly flat on side No.1(have to look closely).
Vinyl used is uber quiet no surface noise in between or during tracks.
Most if not all tracks are good to great with no real "fillers",the sound quality here is up to the same standards as "Tour de "(https://discogs.cinepelis.org/release/16029158-Kraftwerk-Tour-De-Vinyl front-end used for this review:).
Now T.D.F is obviously a much more known/popular album especially the title track but here you have a few killer tracks in; "Musique Non Stop","The Telephone Call" and "Sex Object".
The flow of the album is spot on with no need to be jumping tracks and just putting on from start to finish each side.
This comes "highly recommended" for musical content, sound quality and the price five stars.

Mine is nice a flat and quiet albeit the vinyl was a mess of inner sleeve debris and required a wash before it went near my stylus. Great sound, great pressing and a different more percussive side to Kraftwerk that i highly enjoy!
-
Dynamic and high quality pressing exceeding the fidelity of most modern black vinyl with minimal surface noise and IGD.
Musique Non Stop is the jam. -
I absolutely agree with what is said below about the sound quality on this release.Wonderful seperation and crystal clear.
My problem is with the book. The pictures are over-large and repetitive.A minor point though. It`s the music that matters. -
Optimal sound. Couldn't be better. Gatefold edition, very nice. Great quality printing of inner artwork. Unlike the reissues released under the title 'Techno Pop,' this one comes with the name 'Electric Cafe.'
