Billy Joel – Glass Houses

This entry has the wrong pictures. Its as the notes say, and the black cassette has glossy white paper labels with black printing, EQ 120 (micro)Sec, and a Boxed "SM Security Mechanism" bottom right on both sides. Pictures follow......

Stellar original pressing, I have variant 3, TJ on both sides.

Great album! Part of my childhood.
I can't tell if this is my version or not. The runout on Side A has AL 36384 2AA and Side B has BL 36384 2L which is similar, but not quite the same as variant #6. It's the closest I can find to any of the runout on any of the versions of the album. Anyone have any input here?

Per the matrix/runout info, my copy Side A states #19, Side B states #9 with a line drawn through the round part of the 9. I don't know if that classifies mine as a #19 variant or a #9. Something worth sharing in case someone else comes across this.

This is a great sounding cut of this well-recorded album.

GLASS HOUSES might be a five-star album in my book were it not for the utterly pretentious "C'Etait Toi (You Were The One)". As it is, it's a great album with one craptastic song. If memory serves, Joel was fed up with critics saying he couldn't rock out, hence he tries to rock out a bit more on tracks such as "Close To The Borderline" and "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me". "Sometimes A Fantasy" is one of his more underrated songs. This pressing sounds pretty good, with a punchy, beefy mix, crisp drums and guitars, and well defined keyboards and vocals. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional faint surface noise.

This is a great pressing of an awesome album. The fact that you can probably pick one up in good condition for less than $20 is fantastic.

A fine pop rock album with some nice tracks on there including, “You May Be Right” and, “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me”.
