This does have the fabled 'Ryko mastering' - detailed, dynamic, but too light in the low end; lacks texture and solidity.
Enjoyable, nevertheless. The recent 'hits' collections have other sonic problems (maybe worse ones).
John Golden mastered AAA (except for the Fame remix). -
Saw a couple others saying this LP is one of the best they’ve heard in a while and I have to agree. Throughout my first listen I was laughing in amazement, might have got lucky, but I don’t know, there’s just something so special about how this was mixed, mastered and ultimately pressed. It’s a real gem -

Edited one year agoFor anyone interested the quality of this pressing is off the charts good. Dynamic, balanced, tight, and clean as a whistle. This is a one-in-hundreds record. As good as any MOFI release I've heard. If these songs appeal to you this press will probably be your best version of those songs - and this is an excellent cross section of Bowie's best. Truly excellent. -
Edited one year agoThe selection is good, a single disc, excellent, but what's with all the radio edits and the remix? Sound is quite good for the most part and also interesting is that it can be used as a comparison disc. The Bowie catalogue has to be one of most confounding sounding. -
This is an excelent sounding record. I dont know if they used the original master tapes, but this is really good. Thanks EMI, Electrola, Sound+Vision. -

I purchased the vinyl version with ID DBTV 11A/11B + 12A/12B. Unfortunately it’s a very poor pressing and both discs are badly warped.

Excellent full analog sound! This beats the crap out of the digitally mastered “Legacy” collection and includes All Bowies classic hits. Unlike Legacy which leaves off Suffragette City and a few others. I had this on cd in the 90’s and have been looking for it on vinyl for a couple years. Finally got a copy and it sounds absolutely Amazing! Especially for translucent colored vinyl! -
why has this not been repressed on vinyl ever? i dont understand. this would sell a ton.
