Pearl Jam – Dark Matter

Mine sounds fine. No static or pops. Not my favorite PJ album tho.

Bought this used at my local record store. First thought: why did someone sell this back? Second thought (as I've been burned before): Is this going to be another trip to "Skip City?" where the needle skips all over the place due to microscopic defects I can't see but the needle sure finds them. Third thought: F*** it, it's $25 and the packaging is cool. I have the CD, which I thought sounded great, but I've grown up in the digital age, despite collecting vinyl as a kid. I also went with a high school buddy to see the "listening party" film at a local AMC theater (he's a super fan of PJ...I can take em or leave em tbh). so I bought it. Sounds sludgy and compressed, but not sure if that was the band's intention? CD just happened to sound a but better. Typical modern day PJ. Some catchy songs, some plodding songs, Eddie dropping the occasional F-bomb to still seem cool.

After a wet clean, this sounds really good. Maybe not their best album, but sounding quality is up there with their better sounding albums. Rich and dynamic sound stage

this does sound pretty horrible.

Played the last Avenged Sevenfold album and then immediately this. Night and day difference (sure, the a7x has more sonic variety anyway but i'm ing for this too); with this PJ album It's like the sound ran back into the speakers , afraid to come out again

Was hoping for a big sound stage but it sounds compressed
And on the quieter sound. Don’t these guys own the own pressing plant?

For me it's the best Pearl Jam Album since Riot Act.

The Sound is okay and the Pressing is very good. The Packaging with the Booklet and the Stickers are Beautiful. I like the Cover Design very much. The Cover is a little bit to small, like all the other Czech Releases.

It's really not a bad sounding Record, but i agree, with some Comments, you can do the Mastering much better. This Record sounds better on the Headphones as on the Speakers :(. In my Opinion, an average Pearl Jam Sonic. Pearl Jam was never an Audiophile Recording Band. An the best Sounding Records, are 22 years ago.

Slight skip on wreckage, but sounds great for a picture disc.

mine sounds surprisingly quiet for a picture disc. very cool zoetrope visuals from bloods as always.

The problem with this record isn’t the engineering, mixing, mastering, or pressing. The artwork and vinyl variants look awesome. The problem is that it’s not a very good album, imo.
