Easily one of the best Solar Fields and ambient albums in general, but an awful remaster by Robert Elster. Get the original one if you can! -
Edited 2 years agoMy favorite Solar Fields album. This is pure joy. From beginning to end, this music lets me feel intense love. It sounds like a gift from stars and far away galaxies. Love the brown marbled vinyl edition!
I want to add that it is a really nice pressing. Sounds phenomenal on my system! -
Just to close the issue that I reported in Feb 2022, I was able to receive a replacement CD from Sidereal and that CD checks out correctly. It took a bit of time (maybe ~2 months) and some back-and-forth correspondence, but with some nudging Sidereal came through for me, which makes me happy. They also mentioned that the number of defective CDs was around 15-20. So, if you got one of these, it should be possible to get in touch with Sidereal and get a replacement.

I got a version of this release with messed up track ordering. Specifically, tracks 10 and 11 are placed after track 1 and the rest of tracks are shifted. This CD (version with no flyer) was purchased brand new in the US.
I ed Sidereal about this problem and they acknowledged that they are 'looking into it.' But the moment I asked about a possibility of getting a replacement CD with correct order of tracks, they stopped answering my emails.
Now, I am not at all sure about the label / publisher 'responsibility' in such a situation, because this is the first time I encounter a CD that is so horribly messed up. But it surely feels like Sidereal is NOT ive of consumers of its (expensive!) products, plus it has poor quality control. Note that it is totally unclear how many defective releases of this album are out there -- you could be getting one too and, judging by Sidereal's reaction, you are going to be stuck with it.
Naturally, this review has nothing to do with the quality of Magnus' music, which is great! But maybe switching to a different label that provides better to the fans of this music (or at least answers emails promptly) is not such a bad idea? -
Edited one year agoThis is a real downtempo hidden gem. My copy sounds quite good. Few snack, crackle & pops here and there (particularly at the beginning of song ”Monogram”), but those you really can’t avoid with the records pressed these days.
Inner sleeves do not fit very well into too tight designed gatefold sleeve. -
Edited one year agoA great album indeed, the matte cover looks also very good and the vinyls are packed outside of the cover. but the quality control of the vinyl is just bad, mine came with sharp/chipped edges and missing parts!
The cut was no way near clear, by far the worst vinyl I ever seen.
Sent back and the second one is much better, still some sharp edges but acceptable. -

5 stars, 5 stars!, FIVE STARS! This review is for the album, yes, but specifically for the 2019 vinyl remastered version. Leaving Home is a MASTERPIECE in every sense of the word. It is, in my opinion, the greatest electronic/psybient album ever produced. Spacey and airy, but grounded with fantastic beats and a playful, patient nature that treats you to an audible experience akin to that of a ionate lover. Magnus is an amazing musician and the song structures he creates on this album are a testament to every bit of his insane creativity and ability. If you are on the fence about this album, don't be. It's a no brainer. If you, in any way, appreciate the psybient genre, you absolutely need this album in your collection.

A nice album indeed, I decided to get this not too long ago, and so far I am pleased with the quality of the music, and the nice packaging.
The vinyl record is nice, and not warped, and no clicks, hissing or crackles, just smooth music.
The inner sleeves are unlined, generic and black, not much to boast about really.
The outer gatefold itself is pretty nice, it has a matte-finish to it, and it really fits the colors!
The only issue I can see, while a minor one, is that they must not have demo tested these inner sleeves with the gatefold, as they well above the average in of difficulty when it comes to taking them out of the gatefold, and especially when putting it in. It does not slide in smooth, you have to really plan and dedicate all your movements to this action of putting the record back in without ripping anything.
Also, the inner sleeves actually protrude from the gatefold pockets,I have tried many a times to fit them in, but it seems the packaging was not made exactly to fit, which is really annoying... it makes taking this album in and out of a plastic sleeve all that more irritating, and is most likely destined to be ripped at one point or another. I feel these are issues that should have been ironed out in the earliest stages of design. It does not matter if you change to another sleeve, the record doesn't go inside all the way, it is about 3mm away from fitting flush with the edge.
Still, an album I will treasure for a long time, I am glad I got it =)
I would like to hear if anyone else has this problem with the fit of the record! Dunno if it is just mine..
So the actual dimensions of the gatefold itself aren't the best I've seen, far from it. Good try though! -

This is one of the most profound musical experiences I've had to date. I almost couldn't believe this was produced by a human, but it goes to show that we're capable of such beautiful things. So pure, dreamlike, and up-lifting. It makes everything feel as though it's one Spirit, and this life is just a ride.
