Notes

Welcome to [ Blue Moon Station ], starting point of a walk through a futuristic space where all is free, fluid and dense, a series of high tech ambient and trancey energies hallmarked by sound architect Solar Fields. Following his successful first album "Reflective Frequencies" acclaimed by the international press as "the Swedish The Orb - innovative and deep sound", Magnus Birgersson once again confirms his multi-instrumentalist and sound designer talent. Get connected on [ Blue Moon Station ] via Confusion Illusion, intermeddling of various sound spaces, as much primitive as purely designed. Make your way through the streets and downtempo platforms of Elevator Sunshine Girl. Come back to harsh technological reality with a Cosmic Dessert and find refuge in the floating ethnic rest areas of Magic Eye. Move on in this self-governing city with Infection 286-7 trancey speed. After having run in the city's first lights, why not enjoy total weightlessness with Magnetic Air. In fact, we shall leave it up to you now to feel and imagine the sequel of this story and to put your own words on these tracks. Since, let us not forget it, this dream lit music station offers so much freedom.

      This album is masterpiece.

I love it, because it has just right mixture of softness and hardness, uptempo and downtempo. Melodies are staggeringly beautiful, sounds are lush and lively, organically sounding and oscillating like rippling and bubbling water. (which is present among the samples) This is a pleasant relief from plain, square-wave synthetic sound of ordinary electronic music. Magnus gave us a doubtful gift that will make most of other music sound plain and boring, once you get into this one.

Another feature I like is the key, the musical setting the album is in. It does not sound overall positive and cheesy, neither it is dark and sinister. A little of both, but is prevalently mysterious, mystical and a little serious. (except of the famous HOW ABOUT AN ORANGE??? :D)

Despite of it's longer periods of ambient background, the music is extremely complex and psychedelic. Sometimes also overwhelming, although in relaxed state it does wonders with your mind. The album demands your full attention as a piece of art to be relished. It can be hard to get into, with first two minutes of Track 1, but even this one blooms into beauty.

I seriously think this is the best album Magnus has ever made. His other albums, currently ending with Movements are nowhere as balanced. They are prevalently ambient or prevalently trance. Or alternatively prevalently having this cheesy positive sounding which is nice and relaxing, but pulls the album down to average chillout music. Blue Moon Station takes a different path, perhaps even experimental, and I can only regret that so few have courage and skill to go down that path.

Magnus Birgersson's second album is full of trance containing ambient, the start is quite rough and I can't get into most of the songs. The Sounds just don't let me relax and get in to them. And when we start to speed up more in the halfway through I get lost in some odd space where I can't feel at home, but when coming to end there's some real nice chiller and more floating tracks to be found.
Over all this album leaves me very confused and I just have to put it on again and again to find out what's really going on. It's a good album, no doubt, but I'd hope for more softer one.
