Prince – For You

Overall sound is good and clear. Pressing is bad, continuous distortion on the right channel. Tested with 2 different setups. Will replace for a better one.

This mispress also exists in a version pressed in New Zealand.

Prob one of my least fave Prince albums. Still a strong debut tho. The afro on the cover is everything. Vinyl sounds superb.

Can someone comment if there’s still the sibilance present in the first minute or so of vocals on side A track 1? Thank you!

sound is absolutely stunning and beats hand on my original european pressing of 1978.
but, exactly as the 2023 lovesexy reissue, the treatment applied to the artwork is appalling. The cover picture is so dark, you miss 75% of the details of the original (you can barely see the "light smudges") and the picture on the inner sleeve is now so clear you do not recognize Prince on the picture.
Just as for Come, go for it for the amazing sound, but keep the original artwork!

I think this reissue is awesome. Vinyl 180g. Quiet, good bass, everything is well managed. In the cover there is the original insert with the photo and they put a laminated paper sleeve, great. I never heard the original on vinyl. Thank you Bernie Grundman.

Best quality so far. This pressing is amazing! Not a single crackle and flat heavy vinyl. Very dynamic and deep bass. Forget about the Sony Legacy if you can get this one.

Weird how this new series (with some releases missing - Purple Rain, Parade, Batman and Graffiti Bridge) has followed loosely the original 80's CD designs, but with some tweaks to the art - isn't remastered, with the exception of 1999 and Sign 'O' The Times. So when these do eventually get remasters and deluxe editions, these will be the odd ones out. Seems pointless.

When I was 7 years old, I heard "Soft And Wet", and I yelled, "Who Is That???!!!!!! Well, I found out it was the one and only "Prince", and I've been hooked ever since....

"For You", I it wasn't a blast out the gate, but for a 17 year old with a "Total Creative Control" contract from one of the biggest record companies in "Warner Bros." and you sound like this????? Really???!!!! Prince Wrote, Produced, and Arranged every note himself (except from a little help by "Chris Moon" on "Soft And Wet") , which showed how much confidence the company had in him at the time....

Besides the first single in "Soft And Wet", the other songs worth noting were, "In Love", "Just As Long As We're Together" (the second single), "My Love Is Forever", and the well thought out "So Blue"....

The rest was kind of filler, but in Prince's case, it didn't matter....Back in those days, artists were allow to develop, and thank goodness "Prince" was allowed to...

From this time on, we would be exposed to a mountain of music by a man who saw no musical bounds....

PS: 6/28/2024: I have the Re-Issue Pressing that came out in 2016....The only issue I have is that it has the Burbank Picture on the Label, and the Original wasn't like that....But then again, I it that I get WEIRD about those types of things!!!! I also heard that some Pressings of this version were not that good, so BE CAREFUL my FRIENDS!!!!!!!
