ATB, Sash!, Storm, Energy 52 and Paul van Dyk formed part of a strong German contingent during the golden era of trance – lest we forget, the late 1990s and early 2000s. Amongst all that talent pouring out of the country it was possible to overlook a minimalist trance gem which peaked at 48 the first time round, then 31 places higher after a remix courtesy of “Tall” Paul Newman. Even if unlikely to win any trance-deniers over, the renovated Beachball bounced ahead of new releases in the house (Golden Girls), hard house (666), trance (Mark van Dale) and DnB (Krust) categories in that week in October 98’. -

Icey's "The Sea" Mix is the unsung hero here. Never really heard anyone play it. A shame...nice acidy vibe with that funk he brings that should get a good crowd response.

Red Jerry from Hoojs bandcamp:
"The original ltd double pack of this is amongst our favourite vinyl releases on the label. Add it to their remixes of Lustral and Cafe’ Del Mar, and Nalin & Kane might be our favourite artists to have appeared on the label.
We played no part in discovering N + K, or Beachball . Lisa Loud from FFRR / London Records had sent us over a DAT with four mixes on. The record was starting to happen on FFRR / Polygram’s German sister label, but they weren't seeing the immediate commercial potential for the UK. and wanted to see if we might try it out on vinyl, test the water. We listened to it all, then listened again, and then had to just play it cool with FFRR.
Four mixes from the Frankfurt duo ( 3 of which ended up on the dble pack) , 35 + minutes of seemingly endless space and texture, crisp punchy , rolling percussion-lead drums, that M1 bassline you could listen to forever, and hints of yearning and melancholy drifting through the melodies that seemed to speak of summers ing. As classy a release as appeared on Hooj, and most other dance labels of the time.
“ Sure Lisa, it’s nice stuff, we’ll give it a go …. “ -
massive massive massive massive tune! So simple, yet so brilliant. One of the classic must buy tunes on this label.

No other record encapsulates the euphoria and the implosion of trance to come in the late 90s than the breakdown in this record, simply breathtaking, one thing has always bugged me, do the vocals say "be f**king ready" or is that just wishful thinking on my behalf? -

The sea side mix has been it for years and has it still been : this song that still gives us an idea how happy these times have been together with millions of ppl raving on loveparade BERLIN -

Maybe an unnecessary comment but this vinyl does not contain the Beachball wíth the vocals that we so love ;) As it says, its the original mix without the vocals. Maybe pointing out the obvious but perhaps still helpfull for some people -
