Infodisc Technology Co. Ltd. (Infodisc) was a Taiwanese CD, DVD and Blu-Ray replicator, established in 1995, in 2015 they changed their name to Fortune Oriental Company Limited and have since moved to a focus on LED lighting products and changed the nature of their multimedia business to one of import/export from manufacture.
A German branch also existed, but was bought out and became independent in 1999 (Infodisc Technology GmbH). The company also expanded into the US by acquiring CD, DVD, and VHS manufacturer Mediacopy (El Paso, Texas) in 2001.
Infodisc (Taiwan) is known to have used mastering SIDs LB75, LB76, LB77, and LB80, as well as mould SIDs IFPI 2N×× and 5D××. These SIDs may be used, in combination with information detailed below, to assign "glass mastered by" and "pressed by" roles.
Infodisc (Taiwan) glass masters can otherwise be identified by:
The presence of an Infodisc logo in the matrix. This is oftentimes not present, especially in brokered releases, and may either be replaced by "PRESSED IN TAIWAN" or not be present at all.
The presence of a sequential code, including nine digits and in most cases followed by a N for regular CDs or DVDs, NCDS2 for Copy Control CDs, and C for enhanced CDs.
The presence of a Code 128 barcode which after scanning yields an eight-digit sequential code, sometimes followed by "-1".
The sequential code containing nine digits (e.g., 070812314N) has the following format, and should be entered as a catalogue number next to a Infodisc LCCN "Glass Mastered At" credit:
YY + MM + DD + [unknown three-digit serial -- job number?] + [letter(s)]
Note that beginning in 2001, the year identifier is in the ROC calendar (Minguo) and hence "90". For 2002, it's "91", and for 2003 it may either be "92" or "03". For later years, it seems to always be the last two digits of the Gregorian year.
As for the final letter(s), "N" seems to indicate a regular CD, VCD, or DVD, "C" an enhanced CD, and "NCDS2" a copy control CD. Some DVDs, for instance, seem to lack this.
"F1" follows the string on some releases and its meaning is unknown.
If no human-legible sequential code containing nine-digits is present on the release, but a Code 128 barcode is, it may be added as a catalogue number next to a Infodisc LCCN "Glass Mastered By" credit. It has a similar format to the nine-digit code (e.g. 96042113 or 97021421-1), and typically contains a date a few days earlier than the human-legible code:
YY + MM + DD + [two-digit serial -- job number?] + [(sometimes) -1]
One big difference here, compared to the human-legible code, is that the year identifier never switches over from the Minguo "92" to the Gregorian "03". Instead, for instance, CDs released in 2007 have the year identifier "96".
"-1" follows the string on some releases and its meaning is unknown.
Furthermore, a [c/d]nnnnnnn ('c' for CD, 'd' for DVD) code may also be present in the matrix. This additional code is added by various Taiwanese manufacturers and what it signifies is currently uncertain.
This 'c'/'d' code is most commonly found on releases brokered from outside of Taiwan and it should not be added to the LCCN credit as a catalogue number.
