London Astoria

Profile:

London music venue that first opened in 1927 as a cinema, before it became a theatre in 1976, and finally a music venue sometime around 1985 with a capacity for 2,000 people. It was also connected to Astoria 2 with a capacity for 1,000 people, subsequently known as the The Mean Fiddler, which was a nightclub at 165 Charing Cross Road in London so that the two venues could function as a single venue when needed. The old Astoria building was demolished in 2009 with plans submitted to open a renovated "in-the-round" theatre on the site.

Also known as Astoria Theatre.

Not to be confused with the Rainbow Theatre London.
