I live and work in an incredibly noisy city and when I sit down to read I really need to block out the chaos around me.
I'm looking for recommendations for field recordings that capture the sounds of nature - things like forests, ocean waves, rain, wind in the trees, birdsong, mountain streams and so on - or ambient albums.
What are your favourite albums in this space? I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks in advance! -

Green by Hiroshi Yoshimura is a go-to for me. -

Slightly OT, but I always had problems to "block out" the city sounds with ambient or calm music (I live in Hamburg, very noisy city, too). There is always a jackhammer, a car horn blowing, a chatty couple breaking through.
Hence, in my experience, music like wall-of-noise, death metal, gabber, breakcore, or digital hardcore are *very* effective to bleed out every sound and noise around you! -

Not exactly ambient, but may I suggest Aruatones by Deepchord?

In general Rod Modell commonly blends field recordings with some beautiful soundscapes. -

Bumping this to add Chris Watson.
BTW, if somebody has recommendations for ambient mixing dark hypnotic soundscapes with field recording I'm interested (even slightly experimental). -

Thank you for the recommendations, I will check this.
I would refer to tracks like
Horizon Two Twenty Two - A Midsummer Night's Dream (Titania Mix)
Mind Transport Tools - Star Clusters (Thunder) (NO LINK SORRY)
Max Corbacho - Lava Atmospheres (NO LINK SORRY)
DJ Olive - Yard Swing Sunrise
... as good examples of dark hypnotic ambient mixing field recordings.
