    Hello to this forum again. Any idea what “選曲” might mean credit-wise? I’ve seen this floating around a bit but I have no idea what it means. For better understanding, the credit with a name attached to it would look like this: 裴納選曲. Thank you!

    選曲 = Compiled by
    Literally, it means "selecting tracks". Well, you may understand, it's not talking about "selector" or something, but "a compilation compiled by..."

    Eh.... but after I checked the specific release (are you taking about 姚莉*, 姚敏 - 馬來風光 / 南海月夜?), I'm afraid people got it wrong.

    Although written as "選曲" on the label, it actually is "撰曲".

    Simplified Chinese already came into existence in 1935, but was not made mandatory in daily life in mainland China until 2000, as Law of the People's Republic of China on the Standard Spoken and Written Chinese Language was ed. So in 1958, people were using Traditional Chinese (also, it is a Hong Kong release, people their are still using Trational Chinese). And now, "選曲" is not "選曲" anymore, but "选曲". "選" was simplified as "选" at the end. (explained here since I'm afraid you would try using Baidu or something, which will auto-correct some Trational Chinese to Simplified Chinese)

    At the same time, the character "選" looks extremely similar with "撰", which means "Composed by". And the "撰" was a legal way of writing "選" (source: 汉典), instead of a typo.

    Conclusion:
    選曲 = Compiled by
    but in some cases, it actually means "Composed by". You have to check other information in order to know what it actually means.

    According to 姚莉*, 姚敏 - 馬來風光 / 南海月夜 -
    “選曲” is a credit under a specific track, instead of, usually, being used in a compilation title (e.g. "Compiled by DJ XXX" / DJ选曲). On its right side, written is "梅霞詞", which means "Lyrics by 梅霞". Then, it it clear that “選曲” is "撰曲", in fact. So the correct credit should be "Composed by 裴納".

    LOL - In fact, i was wrong. I did some research, and it turns out 選曲 is actually 选曲, so IT IS "selected by" instead of "composed by".

    According to 词曲网, 裴納 was a recording engineer. He once brought back a sheet music of an Indonesian folk song, and it finally became of the instrumental of 馬來風光.

    So I changed it to Presenter [Selected By]. I think it is the closest credit.
