After posting on the "Hi! I'm new here..." thread a couple of people asked me which Hebrew keyboard I use and where to find them. The answers apply to all sorts of interesting languages so I thought I'd post a new thread.

First, I'm using a Solidtek wired USB keyboard I've had for quite a few years. It was inexpensive and has served me well. IIRC correctly I bought it on Amazon. It has both the U.S. English and Israeli Hebrew characters and layouts.

Amazon actually has a pretty amazing selection of keyboards with alternate languages, character sets and layouts. Simply search on <language> keyboard USB or <language> keyboard wireless to find what will work for you. The most ridiculously inexpensive ones are on eBay. Here is a Hebrew wired USB keyboard for US $6.90. The shipping cost from Israel is almost twice the cost of the keyboard: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IPPON-OKKB-USB-Keyboard-English-Hebrew-Black-109-Keys-Keypad-Laptop-PC-Computer-/252180676478

In this case what applies for Hebrew applies equally well for Japanese or Arabic or French.

Thank you, Wendy Carlos uses a different keyboard layout (Dvorak) that I believe co-exists with the generic US keyboard layout; you just lay a sheet with the alternate key names over the existing keyboard and select the new layout on your desktop.

We use stickers at work, see for example:

As most of the employees need both English and their native language keyboards, the stickers are an easy and inexpensive option.

I know nothing of this language but this link was supplied in a recent Forum thread. This seems to me to be a very useful template for many languages because it allows s to compare and contrast letter forms and access them immediately via the interface.
