Hello everybody.
The company plant AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. was a Brazilian company that manufactured CD/DVD from mid-2012 to mid-2015.
The manufacture of the "glass master" is engraved with "AMZ" in its matrix.
Based on other profiles like Microservice, etc... I think this could also be filled in as "Glass Mastered At: AMZ".
I see that "AMZ" is already in use by a music artist, and as "AMZ Mídia" is the company's trade name, used in their web address ("http://www.amzmidia.com.br"), I would like to use this as a reference for to express the "AMZ logo" on the CD/DVD matrix.
Another option would be to use "AMZ (3)", but I think "AMZ Mídia" better differentiates "company name" from "musical artist", avoiding possible ambiguities.
What is your opinion on filling in the "Glass Mastered At" field for this case?
A) Not create anything, use the same full name company, as the "Manufactured by" field;
B) Create "AMZ (3)", despite being a company or a musical artist;
C) Create the company's trade name "AMZ Mídia", to avoid ambiguity with the musical artist "AMZ";
Note that this "AMZ (3)" or "AMZ Mídia" profile would be created as a "Sublabel" of current AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. (the "Parent Label")
Used specifically for the "Glass Mastered At" field and provide information to s about the CD/DVD matrix pattern in your profile.
AMZ xxxxxxM0yymmddTTT00 zzzzzzz
P.P.I.M. AMZ xxxxxxM0yymmddTTT00 zzzzzzz
P.P.I.M. AMZ xxxxxxM0yymmddTTT00 zzzzzzz ["R" logo]
being:
P.P.I.M. = Produzido no Polo Industrial de Manaus
xxxxxx = the W.O./matrix catalog number
M0 = can vary between M1, M2, M3, M4 or M5
yymmdd = the glass manufacturing year-month-day
TTT00 = a media type + 2-digit code, where:
> ANC / TNC / ALC / TLC / AVC / TVC / AEC = CD
> ENC / EEC = Enhanced CD
> V5D / H5D / A5D = DVD5 (single layer)
> V0D / H0D = DVD9 (dual layer), layer 0
> V1D / H1D = DVD9 (dual layer), layer 1
> V0B = Blu-ray
zzzzzzz = the release catalog number/identifier
["R" logo] = [One-Red "R" logo]
I await your opinion on this.
Thank you very much. -

If "AMZ" is in the matrix, "AMZ (3)" would be the entry to use. -

I question here what more than 30k releases in the DB correctly associate the acronym SRC that appears in the matrices to credit the full name of the company at the appropriate LCCN role. Why would AMZ be that special and deserve to have separate profiles for different LCCN roles? -
Show this post
Because there are separate profiles for Innova (2)?
it is very common to find this type of entry:
Manufactured By - Videolar Innova S/A
Glass Mastered At - Innova (2)
Why wasn't used the same company name, credited in multiple LCCN roles?
Manufactured By - Videolar Innova S/A
Glass Mastered At - Videolar Innova S/A
I think that the reason why some created the new profile "Videolar Innova S/A", was because of the existence of the identifier "innova" in the matrix of the CD/DVD.
Why not create a similar profile, "AMZ (3)" or "AMZ Midia", to represent the identifier "AMZ" present in the matrix of the CD/DVD manufactured by AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A.?
This new profile, for specific use in "Glass Mastered At", would also be linked to "Parent Label: AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A.", preventing it from being a duplication of "Labels". -

"AMZ (3)" would be the entry to use
If I may ask, what is the argument that sustains your assertion?
CesarMFM
it is very common to find
That doesn't mean something is adequate or correct.
CesarMFM
Why wasn't used the same company name, credited in multiple LCCN roles?
It should've been used in both tags since February 20, 2022, and Innova (2) shouldn't have been created, for it brings no advantages to the database.
CesarMFM
Why not create a similar profile
Because it isn't necessary and it wouldn't be useful. -

I question here what I already questioned in the label's history: What is the need to create a new profile for the exact same company if the name of the existing entity can be credited for multiple LCCN roles? As an example I quote Specialty Records Corporation: more than 30k releases in the DB correctly associate the acronym SRC that appears in the matrices to credit the full name of the company at the appropriate LCCN role. Why would AMZ be that special and deserve to have separate profiles for different LCCN roles?
I also tend to agree with this. When the full AMZ company name is found elsewhere on the release, what is the additional use in crediting a generic AMZ (3) or AMZ Midia profile just because that logo is found in the matrix? -

What does exist beyond a stagnant position when one agrees with divergent propositions?
My position is that I don't think we need an AMZ (3) or AMZ Midia label profile. But if we must have one, it makes more sense to use AMZ (3) which is the logo/brand presented in the matrix. -

I vote A: Not create anything, use the same full name company, as the "Manufactured by" field.

Ok. So you choose to vote A as per this thread poll. Am I right? -

It is necessary to clarify that this is not about creating a "new label profile", the intention is to create a "sublabel" for the existing main label profile.
Model 1 (how is today)
Label "AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Release "Any Musician's CD" (Glass Mastered At: AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A.)
Model 2 (using "Sublabel")
Label "AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A."
Sublabel "AMZ (3)" (Used in "Glass Mastered At", when the identifier "AMZ" is present in the CD matrix)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Release "Any Musician's CD" (Glass Mastered At: AMZ (3))... from Parent Label "AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A."
It would just be a "sublabel" similar to the existing ones Innova (2), etc... -

additional use in crediting a generic AMZ (3) or AMZ Midia profile just because that logo is found in the matrix?
It's a matter of label/brand vs company. AMZ is the brand, AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. is the company. Separating entities like this really is pretty basic stuff around here. -

A) Not create anything, use the same full name company, as the "Manufactured by" field;
Yes, this would be my preference I think. The full company name AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. will always be printed on the artwork (I think), so what is the use in crediting AMZ (3) in addition to AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. on the same release?
Has the manufacturer ever been known by a different company name than AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A.? -

What's the purpose or benefit in separating an entity that manufactures both the glass master and the final product? In this case, the AMZ inscription in the matrix is just a logo, which is an element of the brand. Would you please state your vote?
Myriad
so what is the use
There's none according to my point of view.

No. -

Note... the AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. is a pressing and duplication "plant" in Brazil.
When manufacturing the Master Glass, the company does not write its full name on the CD matrix because space is limited, so an abbreviated name or logo is used to identify it, in this case, "AMZ" was used on the all CD/DVDs matrices.
In your country, CD/DVDs are manufactured by "Sony DADC Australia Pty Limited.", same situation, the full name is not used in the Master Glass matrix, the identifier used was "Sony DADC Australia"... so, your "Glass Mastered At" input will be matched with "Sony DADC Australia", right?
When the contributes with a product manufactured by AMZ Mídia, he will have two pieces of information:
1) "Manufactured by AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A." printed on the back CD paper sleeve;
2) "AMZ" printed on the CD matrix;
Today, we don't have a sublabel for "AMZ", so it will look like this in LCCN:
Manufactured by - AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. (matches with "CD paper sleeve" info)
Glass Mastered At - AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. (does not matches with "CD matrix" info)
The intention to add sublabel "AMZ" to profile "AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A.", is to allow the to search for the term that matches with the "AMZ" identifier present in the CD matrix.
With the existence of the "sublabel AMZ", the contribution would look like this:
Manufactured by - AMZ Mídia Industrial S.A. (matches with "CD paper sleeve" info)
Glass Mastered At - AMZ (3) (matches with "CD matrix" info)
