Moved by curiosity, I compared this version with Audio Analogue 2023 SACD & the 2001 remaster.
I confirm what other reviewers generally say, speaking about AA 200g vinyl:
1. Audio Analogue SACD is the best of all: balanced, instruments well arranged spatially
2. Remaster 2001, drier, crystalline, perhaps a little "digital" (obviously): more or less enjoyable, it's a matter of taste
3. Wilson remix: the worst of the three, without discussion here. Muddle, confusing, not a pleasure to listen to.
Setup: MARANTZ SA-1153 player - GRANDINOTE DOMINO pre + GRANDINOTE ARALDO dual-mono amplifier (both Class A) - MAGNEPLANAR 3.7 Speakers -
Interesting is that on the 2010 edition instead of the Stockholm 1969 show is included a Carnegie Hall show.

ps the best part of the 50 page book is at the start when you open this set up a nice pop up of the band (1969 era) pops up...........nice touch as i have not seen that done in many years.............

i got hold of this great release a while back for an ok price but yes this is indeed way oop and costs hundreds now, anyway this is the ultimate edition of stand up i feel. we get the steve wilson remix wich is great, as well as other oddities on disc #1 from the bbc etc etc........ disc #2 has great killer live stuff from stockholm sweden from 1969, this stuff was quite heavy at this time some 53 years back.......also some great 1969 radio spots, the dvd is great with killer footage from 1969 as well, also this comes in a lavish high quality box set with a very extnsive booklet that is included and besides all the essays on the stand up record there is great vintage photos of tull from this era........... i have the first 4 tull albums in this fomat up to AQUALUNG........... all 4 are very nice!!!!!!! great sounding discs to!!!! great remastering...

Edited 3 years agoThe Stand Up Elevated Edition is a great sounding box set that features what some, including myself, feel is Tull's best album. Having listened to some of the other Tull “book” editions, I feel that Stand Up is better than anything else they ever released, including Aqualung. It’s a shame they could never match the quality of Stand Up.
This box has two CDs and one DVD, which is relatively light compared to other Tull book editions. On the positive side, it lacks the bloat of those editions.
However, if you do not have the box in hand already, you will have to spend hundreds of dollars to obtain one on the secondary market. It is the sad reality of being a Jethro Tull fan in this era of corporate greed and indifference from Ian Anderson. Don't worry, you can still get box sets of disappointing later Tull efforts like A and Stormwatch for a reasonable price.
In a strange twist of fate during the vinyl revival, you can now find a nice original UK vinyl pressing of Stand Up for less than what this box currently is fetching. Those who worship Steve Wilson will balk at that option.
