Brilliantly flawed. The radio sessions are fantastic with some great versions of some of my favourite Queen songs. White Queen and Spread Your Wings are particularly fine. We’re also finally given the fast version of We Will Rock You. I suspect it has previously appeared as a B side but it belonged on its own album with its fellow session tracks.
The live stuff. Hmm. It’s not essential. Especially now we’ve got the Rainbow concert. I’m not complaining- it’s always good to get some old Queen live music, but the Magic show tracks are a bit too familiar now, and the ones from 1981 are great - there’s just not enough of them. I do enjoy the Golders Green show.
Interviews. Do people play those more than once ? I think I’ve listened to them but I’m in no rush to play them again.
Nice little box. The booklet is ok. Got all the details that you need.
I’ll finish by saying it’s not a bad release at all. The sublime bits are truly sublime. It’s just the padding.
8/10 but mainly on the strength of the first 2 disks.
SQ is good.
