I think people in the reviews here are being a bit dramatic.
This reissue is not amazing sounding, but it’s not the worst.
The reissue of Something To is absolutely the worst out of all these reissues.
Mastering is on the more quiet side and the pressing would benefit a lot from having a 2lp reissue, to ensure the higher frequencies don’t get lost in the mix, which creates that muddy sound.
I’d rather a quieter pressing that can be turned up to hear more dynamics than a compressed sounding record.
The like a prayer reissue has similar issues with sound. But in my opinion, is far worse. Especially compared to the original pressing.
You’re definitely not going to be getting the worst sounding record from buying this, but there is definitely room for improvement in the future reissues now that she is now back with Warner. -
Absolute trash reissue. Sounds like some one fell asleep while mastering this and pushed the bell to the max and forgot to do the rest. Worst record I ever bought.

I believe this is a good pressing however the volume is a bit low but side 2 is almost 30 minutes in length. If you crank it up a bit then it sounds really decent. I have better sounding records in my collection but I think is more than OK for the price. It sounds very balanced and the quality of the vinyl is very good. I also like the packaging and the high quality inner sleeve. As I previously stated more than OK for its price ( I paid 14,99 € for my copy ). [ Playing this using an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge ]

For me it sounds great! One of the best sounding vinyl from my Madonna collection along with Rebel Heart.

OK so for anyone who wants to know which version sounds best... The Brazilian pressing is famous for being horrible. This 2016 version is right around the same quality as the Pink Dj Version. If anything the 2016 is step up. The best quality of this recording is the original German release from 1994. -
Edited 5 years agoThe sound is a bit muddled on this - nothing tragic but it definitely lacks the depth and clarity of the '94 pressing. -
Sadly the sound is 2/5 compared to the original DJ pressing. Not sure what equipment other listeners are using but this has no sleigh bells in Survival or Secret as an example =[ -
Beautiful, clear does not disappoint one bit this is one Madonna original I do not own but you cant beat the sound quality of this pressing. I find all Madonna LP's sound quality cant be beat !
