Edited 5 years agoI'll give this three stars, and all for the third disc. One and two are contemporary (relatively) recordings, and sound awful to me. I'm not sure what Rush were doing with their setup at this time but the guitar and bass sound in particular just sit wrong - muddy and guitar-centric in particular with vintage material ("Limelight", "Analog Kid"). Hearing 2112 in its entirety is nice, I guess. I also found the crowd noise unbearable at times, as though whoever was mixing this thing insisted excited whooping should be audible throughout. Disc three is worth owning the set for, and probably should be available separately: recorded on the Farewell to Kings tour and includes blistering versions of By-Tor, Xanadu and Cygnus X-1.
