Reviews
-
Jam-Master Jay and its corresponding Instrumental are two of my favourite Run DMC tunes. Should've featured on at least one of the early Street Sounds Electro albums. Whether people want to argue about that or not is up to them, not that I give a damn anyway. It certainly wouldn't have sounded out of place at the time as both styles sat side by side, used the same equipment and was also big on the breakdance scene. This was pre breaks sampling went on overdrive period. This was in the midst of the heavyweight machinery beats era where gated reverb and cutting and slicing with attitude was part and parcel of production. Yes, nostalgia plays a part, but it still slams hard for me.

Jam Master Jay is the true jam here. Hard Times isn't bad by any means but just falls short compared to Jam Master.

Classic cut by Run DMC. Especially like the 'Jam Master Jay' track. Don't crank the bass up to high on that track or you might need new windows, it's a beast. Sampled numerous times. I miss this era of hip hop. R.I.P. Jam Master Jay, your cuts live on
