Brilliant pair of remixes. Agree about the cymbals on the Motorbass remix, ended up editing them out in a DJ set to prevent crowd displeasure. I:Cube remix is a very nice remix though, 303 (I believe) makes it almost alien.

I agree the track is great until the 7 minute mark, however I have always loved the breakdown in the middle of the track and equally enjoy the second half of the track. Oh well, different strokes for different folks and all that.

Edited 14 years agoThe Motorbass Miami is definitely the best remix of Around the World, hands-down. It should've been on the original 12" release IMO. Here Etienne de Crecy and Phillipe Zdar take the vocals and some of the synth from Around the World, pitch it up a little bit, and add in a sample from Shakatak - Easier Said Than Done along with some vocals of "I've Been Away" and "Aww Yeah!", giving the track a really nice French-House feel that wasn't really seen until 1999. The track is great until the 7 minute mark, when things go haywire with a strange off-beat drum kick and really annoying cymbals that ruins the rest of the track, luckily there's a breakdown before it so you can crossfade out of the track very easily before it kicks in.
The I:Cube remix sounds like a sampler gone haywire, chopping up the synth and vocals of Around the World, pitching them subsequently up and down, and adding in a strange phaser, "I wanna" vocals, and some electro bassline. It's not that great of a remix to be honest.
But check out the Motorbass Miami mix, you really can't go wrong, excellent excellent disco-sampling French house remix of Around the World. It might be on par there with the original, and if it wasn't for the random cymbals and annoying drum-kick halfway into the track, it'd be even better. Excellent production from Zdar and Etienne de Crecy.
