This is not my write up but I found it on Youtube.
This Gong live album was not sanctioned by the band and it is full of mistakes. It has absolutely nothing to do with Sheffield, nor with 1974. The source gig is the first half of 1973 in (like its companion release on Mantra 'Live Au Bataclan'). But where and when? Nobody knows. Any ideas?
The tracklist contains a lot of mistitled tracks, and wrong composing credits -
Edited 15 years agoThis must be a recording of the band's gig at City Hall, Sheffield, 8th October 1973, because it contains material that Daevid Allen included on the Greasy Truckers album, which he edited on 26th October 1973, according to the gig history at Planet Gong:
http://www.planetgong.co.uk/gas/gigs/1973.shtml
Also confirmed here:
http://wapedia.mobi/en/Greasy_Truckers_Live_at_Dingwalls_Dance_Hall
Nor are the tracks featured here consistent with a Gong gig from 1974, which would always feature much more material from the two later parts of the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy; Angels Egg & You.
