U2 – War

Just picked this pres. There was a Woolworths pice tag dated March 8, 1983. Store 645 (St Neots, Cambridgeshire). The record was released on February 28, so it’s got to be an early release. The inner sleeve is not printed, it’s plain black with a poly liner.

This sounded tinny, weak and peaky on my system. Word for enough words.

I‘ve got this one with a non printed innersleeve. The black innersleeve looks the same as shown but is not printed. It has the same corners.

Is there another copy which I haven’t found here?

Great Vinyl. It sounds clear and with great bass. About the labels I don't know if it's a mistake or it was the original intent and after the first batch the record label decided to change it, but aesthetically it's very nice.

My copy of this sounds like two different records altogether. Side 2 sounds full and rich with good bass and open sound. Side one sounds like I threw a blanket over the speakers. Sound is muffled and the vocals seem buried in the mix. All I can think of is maybe the previous owner played the heck out of side one and never played side 2.

Great pressing and great album. Don't be put off by the thin and light vinyl as this sounds brilliant. Love LMJ's drumming on this - cavernous and military-like fitting in with the album's theme.

This original release is pretty good in my opinion. The record is thin, but i've heard 180g records sound worse! This is best turned up, and I have to commend the mix for the amount of space that opens up for the bass, really makes you appreciate Adam Clayton's work.

Even with this being over 35 years old, after cleaning I didn't hear a single click or pop, and could only hear some surface noise on "45". It helps how the inner sleeve is poly lined. The gatefold is an extra nice touch.
